How Will Marriage Impact Your Career
How Will Marriage Impact Your Career If youâre due to get married or youâre just carefully considering the future, one thing you might be thinking about is how marriage will impact your career. Although the two usually develop separately, there are many out there who will tell you that one definitely impacts the other. Having a bad day at work could impact your mood and impact your relationship, and having an argument with your spouse could easily make it difficult for you to concentrate at work. However, marriage could potentially affect your career in other ways too. Your Mood Think about your mood for a second. Do you enjoy your job? What mood are you usually in when youâre at work? How about when youâre at home? Chances are, no matter how hard you try, your mood is going to be dictated by these things. If you have a great morning with your spouse, chances are, youâll start the day off right and have a great day at work. Youâll feel focused and productive. If you have a bad start to the day, your work may suffer. If you have a rubbish day at work, you might get home to your spouse, complain, and end up in some kind of argument. These two things do tend to impact the other quite a lot. To stop this from happening, try to become more aware of the things you allow to control your mood. Many people say the most important career decision youâll ever make is the person you marry. More Perks Want more perks at work? Getting married could be the way to do it. Some people say that married people at work get given extra hours to do things like see childrenâs plays, whereas single people donât tend to enjoy things like this. Who knew that wearing your titanium wedding bands could be a huge advantage? Thought Of More Favorably Although you shouldnât worry about your marital status and what others think of it, people who are married tend to be thought of more favorably in the workplace. People could start fighting your corner for a promotion, and may even trust you with more responsibility. Make More Money Married people even tend to make more money than single people. It isnât exactly fair. After all, do you think you work any harder now that youâre married? Probably not, but studies show that it does make a difference to how much you earn. Married women earn 4% more than single women. Married men earn 7% more than single men. If you want a pay rise, it could be time to tie the knot! If youâre looking at marriage from a financial perspective, it can be totally worth it. Bear in mind that sometimes, the only reason you may get treated differently at work is because youâre giving off a certain âvibeâ. If youâre envious of married workers and talk about being single as if itâs some horrible disease, people might just pussyfoot around you. Become more assertive and confident when it comes to your marital status and you wonât have much to worry about.
